Eurocities 2011 – Planning for people
3.11.2011
From 2nd to 5th November mayors coming from all Europe met in Genoa for the annual Eurocities meeting. The mayors deal how, through a city planning focus on people – “Planning for people” is the title of the debate – it is possible to create liveable cities that consolidate the social cohesion.
400 people, 100 of them were mayors and politics authorities, attended at the Genoa Eurocities meeting.
Eurocities 2011 gave a charming view on how cities are facing the common urban challenges through regeneration with a social dimension.
Renzo Piano, architect and city planner, delineated the guidelines of the conference, bringing his experience in big projects of urban regeneration. The session was broadcasted in web streaming, with the interventions of the mayors of Copenhagen and Genoa and with the debate among the mayors of Antwerpen, Barcelona, Genoa, Stockholm, Rotterdam and Warsaw.
Creative Cities took part at Eurocities 2011 with an own stand where we could introduced our project. We spread our leaflets in English, Italian, Polish and Slovenian and we reached more or less 100 people.
